We finally got our engine back up and running. Its been a long process but we were successful in the end. We had a mechanic replace all of our valves and he put the head back on this afternoon and the engines purring like a kitten. Hopefully nothing else goes wrong. We only have a few weeks to get to Costa Rica now, so we´ll be out at sea for most of the rest of May. There will probably only be port stops at Acapulco and Huatulco. But I will get back to everyone once we are in Costa Rica.
Wish us luck, its gonna be a long trip south from here. And we have to cross the Bay of Tehuantepec, which is going to be gnarly with the potential for heavy winds. Its common to have 40 knot winds just a mile offshore when a weather system crosses from the Gulf of Mexico over to the pacific. We´ll be wating in Huatulco for a good weather window and then getting across the bay as fast as possible.
