Puerto Escondido!

Puerto Escondido is a sweet town and has great waves. We got here Thusday night after spending 14 hours or more on buses getting here from Ticla. It was 4 hours from Ticla to Lazaro Cardenas, where we got a hotel room for the afternoon to rest up and keep our packs safe while we wandered around and had dinner. We left Lazaro Cardenas at 11pm and took the night bus to Acapulco. We got in around 5am and waited until after 8 to run into town. I took a taxi to the Yacht Club to pick up some mail that Matt and I had sent there before we stopped the sailing trip. I got a package from Erika, full of candy! Sourpatch kids, dark chocolate, gummy worms, blow pops and Big League Chew. I was so freakin happy. We cant get junk food like that down here. They have their own Mexican junk food here but its not the same.

When we got into Puerto Escondido after 9 hours on the bus from Acapulco, we found a cheap bungalow (100 pesos per night= $8 a piece) and went out for a sunset surf session. The waves were good, even though it was small for Puerto, and we got a few good racing waves in. Today the waves were big but we slept through morning glass off. Walked around town and got a $2 lunch and came by the cyber cafe to update everyone on the travles. Going out to surf again in an hour or so if the waves clean up. Its been about 10 feet sets all day so I hope we dont just get hammered. The waves here are insane!
This is the beach looking west from the main break.
oThis guy is stoked! Check that barrel size.
Tubes are the norm here...and they are heavy!
Lots of little palapa beach bars and restaurants.
Here is a spider we found on the toilet last night...been checking carefully every time since. This guy was probably 4 inches across!
