Surfing Puerto

The surf here in Puerto Escondido is freakin sweet! We surfed the point (known simply as punta) two days ago and the break was tons of fun. Its a long wave and you take off on the outside right next to rock outcroppings. We surfed for 3 or 4 hours that day and were beat afterwards. Yesterday we surfed the big break right out front and got some good waves. The swell had dropped to where it wasn´t scary big. Joaquin got quite a few good rides in and was stoked on his session. I had a few good waves too, but went in after getting pummeled by a big set, hitting bottom several times and losing my breath. This break is to be taken seriously =).

I put up some videos that I took one morning, and added pictures to the Southern Mexico photo slideshow over in the right column.

Joaquin and are are taking a night bus to Guatamala tonight. The swell is going to be small for the middle of this week so we plan to skip the beaches of Guatamala and spend some time checking out some volcanoes in the highlands. Some of the volcanoes are still active and glow red at night! Should be fun.
