Bocas Del Toro, Panama

I left Costa Rica on June 25th after meeting up with my friend Shannon, who just came down to Central America on the 24th. We headed straight to Bocas Del Toro, an archipeligo off the western Caribbean coast. The islands are beautiful and there is so much to see and do here. We ran into some friends I met at Punta Mona farm in Costa Rica and have been hanging out with them and Diego, a Columbian I met on the boat taxi out here, for the last few days. On Friday we rented bikes and rode to a set of caves in the middle of the island, where we took our ¨self guided¨tour for $1 each. We saw LOTS of bats, a centipede, several cave scorpions, and a cute little turtle (tortuga in spanish) who was quite camera shy.

On Saturday we took a boat tour of several islands and went snorkeling at a live reef that was full of colors. Wish I had Joaquins underwater camera!

Here in Bocas we also met a friend named Freddy who works on a very large catamaran that is anchored just offshore from town. He was kind enough to take us out to his sailboat the other night which was sweet and we got to swim in bioluminesence underneath a starlit sky. Made me miss my days as a sailor.
