Playa Tunco - El Salvador

We left Guatamala for El Salvador last Friday, I think that was May 29th. The shuttle ride was only about 4 hours from Antigua to El Tunco, where we are currently staying. The ride here offered great views of the countryside and it seemed we crossed a river about every five minutes. The setting is very tropical and most of the farms are growing sugar cane, papaya, or other tropical fruits.
This picture was taken crossing the border between Guatamala and El Salvador.

Playa Tunco is pretty sweet, and there are several good waves within walking distance of the hostel. There is a long right point break and a short fast beach break. We have been having more fun on the beach break beacause its pretty hollow and you can catch tons of waves in just a few hours. Yesterday we surfed the beach break for three hours, with the last hour all to ourselves. Got a little sunburned and really sore, but it was so much fun...I got barreled three times!

On Saturday there was a big party at the disco in town. There were two live bands and quite a few people drove down from San Salvador, the capitol, to see the show. We had the greatest time dancing and then cooling down out in the pouring rain.Joaquin playing guitar in a hammock outside our room.Walking across the rocks which form the right point break (waves are outside the picture to the left).

From here we´re headed to Nicaragua (plan for now). I will probably just keep heading to San Jose, Costa Rica where I´m meeting up with my girlfriend Erika, and Joaquin is gonna hang out in Nicaragua to surf for a while. Its been a blur of countires over the last week or so, and it will be good to be in Costa Rica and slow down a bit. I plan to spend most of June in Costa Rica, and July in Panama, but the countries are so easy to travel between that I may do some back and forth.

Side Note: I just got my SPOT back a few minutes ago, so those of you on the email list will be getting my GPS position again each day. I know you´re happy Mom.
