Barra Navidad was a quick 3 hour sail from Tenacatita and we arrived around noon yesterday. We LOVE this town! Its small enough that everyone knows each other and all the businesses are small and privately owned by locals. We dinghyed to shore yesterday afternoon and wandered around town, still not used to being able to drink a beer walking down the street. Last night we ate dinner on the boat and wathced a movie on my laptop. Our first movie night on the boat! Its funny because none of us miss watching TV or movies at all. We watched Master and Commander, a movie about sailing...of course. Today we came back into town and dropped off some laundry, then stopped by an internet cafe to send out emails. Right now I just got done with lunch ( vegetarian burritas) and using the restaurants wifi. Life is good and slow here in Barra, and the anchorage is completely calm and safe. Except that the entrance is super shallow and hard to navigate =). We plan on leaving tomorrow during rising tide to avoid the shallows. A local sailor also offered to guide us out since he knows the lagoon pretty well.
Another cool thing about the lagoon is that a local French Bakery (authentic French) delivers pastries in the morning to yatistas on a panga. This morning I bought croissants for breakfast. We ate almond, chocolate, butter, and ham & cheese croissants to our extreme satisfaction. French pastries delivered right to our boat...talk about convenience.
From here we are gonna pass by Manzanillo, maybe stop in for a few hours. But we need to make up some time so its gonna be a few quick days down the coast to Acapulco. We'll stop at a few well known surf spots to check the swell, but the buoy data isn't very promising for the next week. Cross our fingers and hope for waves!
