Mazatlan

So we made it to mainland Mexico, sailing for two days from Bahia De Los Muertos to Mazatlan. We arrived on thursday morning, which just happened to be the beginning of Semana Santa, or holy week, which is the biggest Mexican holiday of the year. It's sort of like Mexican Carnaval. There are so many people here, everyone goes to the beach for Semana Santa. Everyone hangs on the beach all day having big family cookouts sort of like July 4th back in the US. At night the streets get packed, and there are so many people, traffic comes to a standstill on the main street. Drivers give up on making headway, get out of their cars and start dancing with the crowds! Big time culture shock for us gringos. We are some of the only white people cruising around at night, pretty cool actually. Last night we hung out with three nice guys that are camping on the beach just south of our marina (Hotel and Marina El Cid). They helped us with our spanish and showed us around town a bit.
Our stay so far in Mazatlan has been sweet. We're at a resort marina, only paying $12 each per night and get to use the two pools with swim up bars. They also have laundry and bathrooms for the yatistas. We've also met quite a few fellow cruisers, most of them are headed north for the summer.
I added another couple videos onto my youtube channel, it should show up over to the right of this page. The first video is of of our day at the beach this afternoon, narrated by Capitain Matt Craft. The second is of the nightlife during Semana Santa, purely crazy mexicanos everywhere. Also, there's a few pictures below for you all to enjoy. Don't be jealous now.

Our neighbor down at the beach.
Coming back from a jog and swim. Finally caught a few waves and splashed around a bit. The water is warm, but still refreshing.
A couple of more lazy iguanas sunning themselves on the beach.
The beach in front of our marina. I think I could just stay here for months and be totally content.
