Sea of Cortez

We're in Bahia de los Muertos right now, just for two nights, and tomorrow we are leaving for Mazatlan, 175 mile ocean crossing. The Sea of Cortez is warm but super windy right now. Hope it holds up to get us to Mazatlan with some speed. We're sitting at anchor with about a dozen boats, surrounded by white sand beaches lined with palm trees. Came ashore to shower and get some diesel (having a local run into town 10 miles away with a jerry can). The shower is a beach shower outside the restaraunt here, but we are not embarassed by anything at this point and plan to shampoo up right here on the beach. Being back on the water away from big towns is sweet, although talking to my parents and Erika back in San Diego felt real good. I updated the Cabo post below with more details about Mag Bay and our time in Cabo. One story I forgot was about this fellow named Juan who is from San Diego and owns an Italian place in Cabo called La Trattoria. He was super nice and let us use his internet and phone for free. Small world...he is an electrical engineer who used to work at UCSD. Now he does real estate in Cabo and is trying to start his own tequila and wine business. Pretty inspiring. You rock Juan! If any of you are ever down in Cabo check out his place right across from Squid Row.
Also, here's some new pics:

This is the cove we anchored in at Bahia De Los Muertos. The water was super clear and refreshing...but not cold!
Sunset over the Bay of the Dead. Actually, a developer bought this whole area and renamed it Bahia De Los Suenos, or the Bay of Dreams. I guess it was hard to market Bay of the dead =).This is me sitting on the porch of El Cardon, the only business around. Nice little cantina and restaurant with free internet and phone calls to the US. Thanks Mike!

Now on to mainland Mexico, the land of warm weather, good fishing, and endless right point breaks.
